Skip and Charge Dates:

If you are wondering which box is being charged on which date -
this is your guide.

SHIPPING:

I received a tracking number, does that mean my box has shipped?
It means your label has been printed. This is the first step in the packing process. Typically, we print your label first, pack the box, and then take it to the Post Office. This may sound like a quick process however, we often print 100s of labels at a time to secure the shipping cost. They may not actually arrive at the post office for a few days. 

When we print out your shipping label you automatically get an email with the tracking number. This is why it might take time to start showing movement. If we print your label on a weekend it won't be scanned in by the post office until the following business day. 

My Tracking number isn't updating, what do I do?
Please be patient. We have noticed on NUMEROUS occasions that packages are not being scanned at various points of their shipping journey therefore your tracking shows 'Pre-shipment' when it is actually on its way. If you haven't seen any movement in a week we can look into it for you.

Would you ever consider shipping directly to international locations?
Honestly, we would love to but it just not feasible for us to ship outside of the US at the moment.
We have a VERY small team and when we add all the extras steps and fees necessary for international shipping it becomes too expensive and time consuming for us to maintain.
The fact that third party shipment rerouting is an option is an absolute blessing to us as it means international customers are able to get in on the Dark and Quirky action. 
This may change one day as our team grows. 

SUBSCRIPTIONS:

I'm new - what are the subscriptions?
We have 3 different themed boxes available for subscription.
Wicked Tales - perfect for the Paranormal and Fantasy readers.
Corrupted Nights - the best choice for all the lovers of Anti-hero/heroine romance reads.
Dark and Quirky is for our true mood readers. This is a curated box of our favorite reads from any genre. 

If you want them all - we also have the "I want it all" option. Pretty self explanatory ;)


Are Skips allowed for the subscriptions?
Skips will be allowed for 2023, we may change this option to limit the amount of skips in 2024.


Are there skip limits for the boxes?
For now you can skip any box as long as you do it before the skip date. Refunds will not be issued once charged.
The only box you WILL NOT be able to skip is Book Club. You can cancel if you decide you no longer want it but skipping is not an option. 


How do skips work?

We have 12 boxes planned in 2023 for subscription. 
Each of those boxes, while seasonal, has an assigned charging month.
We will not be offering refunds after the skip date so please set a reminder and make sure you are receiving our emails.


When will you be opening subscriptions again? 

Subscriptions are currently open (as of Nov 29) they will be closing soon and then we don't plan on reopening them until mid to end of 2023. 


If I don’t get a sub spot what happens?

Two things. The first is that you’ll stay on the waitlist until we open sub spots which we do plan on, we just have to start somewhere.
Second, when a current subscription holder skips a particular box we will offer a one time purchase of that particular HC box to the next in line on the waitlist. You will stay on the list for a subscription spot and you can opt not to buy the one time box without losing your spot for a sub. 


Are subscriptions hardback only? Will I have the option to buy paperback?

Subscriptions are hardcover only. Hardcover is only available as part of the subscription. 
Paperbacks will be available for individual sale on the website. The dates those will be available will be posted ahead of time.


Is there an option to pay the full year up front?
At the moment there is not. 


Is the price per box or per year? 

The prices listed are per box not per year.

Will there be a waitlist to join the subscriptions?
Yes. We will have the waitlists up for all subscriptions once they close. Anyone on the waitlist will get first access to any skipped boxes.
ex. Jane has a subscription for Corrupted nights but she doesn't want the Fall box. So she skips it. We go to the Corrupted nights waitlist and give the first person on the list a chance to buy Jane's Fall Corrupted Nights Box. If that person doesn't want it, we go to #2. 


Will SEs have sprayed/stenciled edges?
Some will and some wont. Our Wicked Tales subscription box will likely always have Sprayed edges and our other box options will not. Although we may surprise you with the odd one if it fits and we are inspired. 


Will everyone on the waitlist be able to get a subscription?
Everyone on the waitlist was sent a link to buy the subscription. The boxes are currently SOLD OUT. We will open them again but not in the immediate future. 

We will have paperbacks available for non-subscription holders for individual sale.


Will we know ahead of time which books the boxes contain?

Yes! We always announce the authors in advance and we will share covers before you are required to skip (with the exception of the first box as those are unstoppable).

The only exception is Book Club. You will know every author being featured for the year before you sign up, however the actual title and the cover will be a secret until you receive it. At $25 per month we felt more comfortable keeping the details a secret. 


Will you still have one time buys each month? 

Yes! We will have a limited  of paperbacks available for individual sale during the month the box is shipped. Hardbacks will only be available in the book box. 


For the "I want it all box" even though the payments are charged monthly, are the books still shipped every quarter? 
We have a target month for each box that makes up the entire year. HOWEVER we are aware of all the delays that are happening in the printing world so we are taking precautions. 


Are all 3 boxes shipped together at the same time? 
No they will be shipped separately. 


Is the overall shipping price less when you purchase the "I want it all" vs if you purchase all 3 subscriptions separately? 
It isn’t because these boxes are all separate and will still ship separately.

If you get the Wicked Tales box you will get that box in month C.
If you purchased the I want it all subscription you will still get Wicked Tales in Month C, but you will also get Corrupted nights in month D and Dark and Quirky in Month E. 

 

Book Club: What is the charging schedule?
The charges for book club come a month ahead of the shipment and two months ahead of the book club month.
Your final payment will be in September for the November book club book. 

So you paid for the first book in December. This book will be shipped in January so that everyone has time to read it before we chat about it in February. 
The second charge is beginning of January. This is for the book that will be shipped in February and is our ‘March’ book club pick.

Are payment plans available?
Yes, for any one time purchase you are able to use:

If you would like to be on a payment plan for your subscription box - you will need to purchase the payment plan listing.

Can I change my subscription charge dates?
We are happy to move charge dates around to suit your pay schedule.

Please note this can be done once, we are not able to change dates any more frequently than that. 

 

REPRINTS:

Will we have the option to buy again if we miss or can't buy during the individual sale month?
We would never say never but we will not have any pre-planned reprints. It will depend on demand, our capabilities at that time and author approval. 

Some of the books we are featuring are part of standalone series and we do have plans to complete some of them at some point the following year. The timing will depend on any exclusivity contracts the authors may currently hold with other boxes, our capabilities for shipping and demand. They will be announced ahead of time.

  

DAMAGES & REPLACEMENTS

One of my books arrived damaged, what do I do?
Email us to start. help@shopdarkandquirky.com 
Please include photos of the damage and a description of what it is.
Our process for replacements is,
1. You email us with your concerns + photos. 
2. If accepted, you mail the damaged copy back to us. 
3. Once your damaged copy arrives at our warehouse we turn around and mail the replacement copy out.

If we haven't received the original copy yet we wouldn't have mailed the new one out. Please feel free to email us for updates on your replacement however until it arrives at our warehouse, we won't have any more info than this. 

CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS

I want to cancel my subscription, how do I do that?
You can cancel at any time in your customer portal. If you don't know how to access that please email us. 

PLEASE NOTE Cancelling on your own does not refund your money. It cancels the subscription and stops any upcoming charges from incurring. If you have been charged for a box that you do not want please email us. As long as the box hasn't been shipped we can cancel your subscription and refund your money for that box. 

If you missed the skip date for your box you will not be refunded your money so please pay attention to those dates. The only way to get a refund is to cancel your subscription (as noted above).
Any refunds that have been processed automatically go out of our system. Any delays in receiving your money back to the original form of payment are dictated by either your bank or the terms of payment method. We are not in control of how long it takes to get your money back once a return has been authorized and implemented by Dark and Quirky.
